“I have been using, researching and training ENAR therapy for 25 years. Its helped me personally to manage a multitude of client, family and personal problems of all sorts, however my right foot and ankle has finally required deep reconstructive surgery (see pic) and major rehabilitation. Its now almost fully restored and my surgeon and rehab physio are both greatly surprised and pleased with my rapid recovery.”
CASE STUDY AND TREATMENT REPORT…
“A combination of very old sports injury, and stepping in a hole in NZ, caused serious structural problems in my right foot that ultimately required a complex reconstruction operation with screws and bone fusions.”
Use of ENAR Post Op – double arthrodesis on the ankle.
After the major procedure which involved the fusion of the Talonavicular joint and Subtalar joint, I had to wear and sleep in a moonboot for 9 weeks post-op and not weight bear at all for 4 weeks with gradual weight bearing allowed after this period as tolerated, with pain being the indicator. Of course pain killers were prescribed. As usual, for myself, pain-killers with codeine make me disorientated and very sleepy. I feel they cloud the pain, but don’t relieve it much if at all. After two days post surgery I stopped taking any medication and started using the ENAR. While doing this I ensured my foot was supported and stable as until the joint was fusing, so it needed to be held at 90 degrees, hence the moonboot. I’d apply ENAR with the adhesive pads and 2-way leads and then put the moonboot back on. I found doing this I slept well and didn’t need painkillers.
I used ENAR’s different settings for different reasons:
14Hz for bone fusion and deep healing
60Hz was a good setting for sleep
120Hz for pain
320Hz for swelling.
FM plus AM with pads and leads for deep tissue, ligament and bone healing.
As my recovery progressed and I was allowed to do more the ankle would flare up after a session and again using the ENAR most often on basic and at times 14Hz it remedied the pain and reduced swelling.
Now at four months, although there is stiffness in the joint which will take some time to go, I can walk, shop and weight bear without any pain.
As with all orthopaedic surgery it is so important to follow the specific exercises and protocols given to recover well. However, one can only fulfil these if pain is well managed and ENAR certainly did that for me
